Literacy.

Early reading is a priority for our children. In nursery the children are exposed to phonic activities and sessions that cover Phase 1 and 2 phonics in order to prepare them for school. As the children move into Reception their learning of phonics becomes more structured and the children have daily phonic lessons following the schools scheme of work ‘All Aboard Phonics’  The children have home reading books that match their learning from that week in school. Parents/Carers understand the importance of these home reading books to help embed their child’s learning. Literacy lessons in Reception also follow the schools ‘Read to write’ scheme. This exposes the children to language rich texts and ambitious vocabulary.
